Cathy RumfeltCathy has always had music in her life. She started singing and playing the piano at a young age, and attended music camp for many years, did musical theatre throughout high school and college, and sang and played the keyboards in a local band after graduating college. In addition, Cathy has over 13 years of experience as an educator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education from UGA and a master’s degree in English from Georgia State University. She was as an English teacher at Centennial High School in Roswell for 11 years where she was awarded "Teacher of the Year".
After having her son, Jack, she left her full time teaching position and started attending music classes with him. She soon started teaching at The Music Class in Suwanee, Georgia, and loved the curriculum and the teaching philosophies, but most of all, she loved sharing music with her music class students and their families.
Cathy and her husband Wes decided to move to Athens with their two children, Jack and Ollie. Cathy wanted to continue doing what she loved - having fun while sharing music with kids- so she is thrilled to teach music classes here in Athens. She has been teaching music in Athens since August 2014, and now has over 70 families who take music classes at Allegro. She also loves performing at children's events around town, and enjoyed playing at Kidsfest at Athfest in 2016.
